Girl Scouts name 2009 honorees

The Girl Scouts of Hawaii have named their Woman of Distinction honorees for 2009. They were chosen for their philanthropic efforts and advocacy for change.

The honorees:

— Judith M. Dawson, president, Atherton Family Foundation

— Irene Hirano Inouye, trustee, The Ford Foundation; past chair, Kresge Foundation

— Alana Kobayashi Pakkala, partner and executive vice president, Kobayashi Group LLC; founding Member, GIFT Foundation of Hawaii

— Kitty Sullivan Wo, owner and director, Sullivan companies

In a written statement, Gail Mukaihata Hannemann, Girl Scouts of Hawaii CEO, said, "Girl Scouts of Hawaii salutes and applauds our 2009 Woman of Distinction honorees for their commitment and dedication to the people of Hawaii, our nation, and the world."

This year's honorees will be recognized at the annual Girl Scouts of Hawai`i Woman of Distinction Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., which is open to the public. Jeanjean Bower, Jenai Sullivan Wall, and Lynn Watanabe are the Honorary Dinner Co-Chairs.
